Overview We are seeking a skilled and energetic Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and vehicle fleets. Your expertise will ensure our equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting our commitment to excellence in marine and rail maintenance services.
Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanic capable of repairing refrigeration systems and diesel generators to join our team. The Mechanic will be responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections on reefer containers and gensets used in the transportation of temperature sensitive cargo in the intermodal logistics industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety with industrial HVAC or comparable experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections on diesel generators and refrigerated containers.
  • Use wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical bulletins along with knowledge of basic refrigeration concepts to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration malfunctions.
  • Ensure all repairs and maintenance tasks are completed according to safety regulations and company standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in maintenance and repair.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in automotive or diesel mechanics preferred.
  • EPA 608 certification is required. If a candidate possesses an EPA 609 certification they will still be considered for employment however, they will be required to obtain an EPA 608 certification prior to their start date.
  • Minimum of 2 years mechanic experience which demonstrates expertise in using technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical malfunctions and at least a basic understanding of refrigeration concepts and principles, preferably in the HVAC, transportation or intermodal logistics industries.
  • Certain specialty tools and advance tooling and equipment will be provided by the company however mechanics must provide their own industry typical hand and power tools including impacts, drills/drivers, wrenches, hammers, compound gauges, scales, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, and hydraulic systems.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in repair and maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to train and be trained
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects
  • Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Job Type:

$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
