2 Byron Center, MI Job Details 5 hours ago Qualifications Safe work practices Computer literacy Full Job Description The primary function of this position is to diagnosis, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel trucks and trailers, performing tasks such as engine overhaul, brake system repairs, suspension work, and preventative maintenance
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
Troubleshoot and fix diesel engines, transmissions, differentials, drive units, and electrical systems. Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, fluid checks, belt/hose replacements, and tire services. Conduct annual DOT inspections and ensure all repairs meet Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. Rebuild or replace brake systems (air/hydraulic), suspension, steering, and HVAC systems. Repair components using welding and cutting equipment. Prepare detailed work orders, maintain service logs, and use computer-based diagnostic tools. Manage work orders, preventative maintenance programs and inventory controls. Complete each repair in a timely and efficient manner. Ensure proper completion and submission of any and all paperwork. Accurately communicate appropriate information to those who need to know on a timely basis. Use proper test equipment for troubleshooting. Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on equipment. All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education High school graduate or equivalent preferred. One or more current State of Michigan Heavy Duty Truck (HDT) Repair Specialty Certifications, or at least an Apprentice License with the ability to obtain State Certification. Work Experience Minimum of three years of diesel mechanic or heavy truck repair experience preferred. Skills and Knowledge Ability to read, interpret and follow written job instructions. Ability to follow and comply with quality standards. May be required to obtain and maintain valid hi-lo license. Ability to work as contributing member within the team. Ability to frequently lift/move material weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to provide own tools. Ability to operate a PC (keyboard/mouse). Supervisory Responsibilities None

Stands, walks, uses hands/fingers to handle or feel, uses hands/arms to reach, sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, and crawls while performing functions of position. Constant mental and visual alertness (including peripheral vision and depth perception) required to avoid serious injury to self and others and to perform quality functions of position. Color vision may be required to perform quality function of position. Eye, hearing, bump hats, may be required.
