Generator Service Technician (Mechanic) Job Description This role focuses on servicing, maintaining, and repairing rental equipment while also supporting equipment logistics, including delivery, setup, teardown, and returns. You will begin by working locally and, once fully trained, will travel across the United States to service equipment at various customer sites and events. The position combines hands-on mechanical and electrical work with customer interaction, equipment inspections, and accurate documentation of all service activities. Responsibilities Inspect, prep, and operate rental equipment Load, deliver, set up, and retrieve equipment from customer sites Train customers on safe operation and use of all different types of equipment Inspect, clean, refuel, and restock returns Tag and route equipment for repair as needed Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs Order parts and manage basic inventory Pick, verify, and pack orders for shipment Maintain shop, yard, and vehicles Document work and resolve issues quickly Work independently and support team as needed Essential Skills Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing mechanical equipment Ability to troubleshoot and repair diesel engines Experience using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for mechanical and electrical work. Ability to work with electrical systems, including basic understanding of electrical wiring and three-phase power. Mechanical aptitude with experience in automotive repair, machine assembly, and general mechanical systems. Experience with hydraulic systems, including at least one year of replacing and troubleshooting hydraulic components Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a full-time, first-shift position as a Generator Technician, typically working from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Depending on workload, 5 to 10 hours of overtime may be expected, and this can vary week to week. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnsburg, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
