Job Description

Kingfisher Recruiting has partnered with an auto repair shop near St Johns, MI to find a full service Automotive Mechanic. This is a stable company with leading clientele and a great reputation. This individual would join as a Senior Automotive Mechanic with the opportunity to move into the Head Mechanic role in a few years. The company has competitive pay and a very attractive benefits package. 7:45am to 5pm Mon-Fri (No weekends) Essential Duties & Responsibilities Identify mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment. Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined. Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts in accordance with state certification. Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes, and tune-ups. Perform general handling of passenger, light truck, medium truck, small to large farm and industrial tires to include tire repairs, and changes. Perform further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly. Perform maintenance of equipment and store vehicles as requested. Provide timely communication with management and team members regarding status and applicable needs and complete repairs in a timely manner. Communicate and educate customers in a professional manner to discuss issues or problems with customer vehicles. Proper handling of inventory and other shop tools and supplies. All other duties as assigned are based on the needs of the business. Work Experience Requirements 2-3 years' work experience (ASE certification preferred) Extensive knowledge of all aspects of vehicle repair, manuals, work orders, and service. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient with computer diagnostic equipment and software. Must have the ability to perform work in a safe manner and adhere to safety policies. Must have initiative and the ability to work in a team environment or independently. Must be able to handle pressure and think clearly in all situations. Ability to work overtime. Requirements Must have state licensure in front end, suspension, and steering systems along with brakes and braking systems. Must provide own tools. All other state licensure's preferred but not required. High school diploma or equivalent Must provide proof of a valid State Driver's License.
