This role involves performing routine and preventive maintenance on driving vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical skills, the ability to interpret schematics and blueprints, and experience working with various hand and power tools. This position offers an opportunity to develop technical expertise within a dynamic environment committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Duties Evaluate mechanical problems in vehicles using diagnostic equipment and visual inspections. Provide estimated time and materials required to perform vehicle/equipment repairs. Repair passenger cars, light and heavy trucks, road rollers, street sweepers, tractors, loaders, etc. Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles. Install and repair emergency lights, sirens, and switches. Perform and maintain bodywork on City-owned vehicles and trucks. Adjust and replace necessary parts and units on such equipment. Repair mowers, saws, trimmers and other 2 cycle engine equipment. Enter technician orders in the work-order system. Ensure all repairs and mechanical services meet City and industry standards. Respond to emergency road-calls within the City. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Knowledge of standard practices, tools and equipment in the repair of automotive equipment. Knowledge of the principles of internal combustion engines. Knowledge of the construction, assembly and adjustment of a wide variety of automobiles, trucks, tractors, bulldozers, and related equipment. Ability to use a variety of automotive shop equipment and tools; ability to diagnose engine and body effects. Ability to maintain accurate and legible records of work performed and/or monitored. Ability to develop knowledge of and follow City and DOT safety and compliance requirements. Possess manual dexterity and physical stamina (stand, bend, reach, twist and turn) to maneuver in. and around tight spaces for extended time-periods. Ability to work independently.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent. ASE Certified required. NATEF Certification or Associates Degree in Automotive Technology preferred. Five years of experience as a Mechanic.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
Must possess valid State of Ohio Driver's License and CDL-B. Must have good driving record and ability to safely operate vehicles. Must meet insurability requirements. Must have ability to lift 50 pounds infrequentlyPay:
