Job Description

The Mechanic I will perform mechanical functions and duties of inspecting, checking, troubleshooting, repairing, and replacing all mechanical equipment to maintain high levels of safe and productive equipment performance.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Maintains and inspects centrifugal pumps and electric motors such as bearing and seal replacements, alignments, couplings, sumps, fans, drain piping modifications, block valves, control valves, air compressors, valve actuators, etc. Maintains and repairs reciprocating engines and associated components. Assists with replacement of pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment as needed, including foundation work, initial alignment, testing, and startup. Participates and successfully completes training programs, process safety management reviews, and safety meetings required to comply with state and federal regulations. Reviews procedures and properly completes records of time as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards to meet all regulatory agency requirements. Responds to operational emergencies as a member of an area emergency response team. Performs Skilled Mechanical duties involving operations, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing natural gas engines, compressors, generators, and other power-driven equipment. Inspects engines, compressors, and mechanical equipment: diagnose problems and determine extent of necessary repairs; perform repairs and routine preventative maintenance. Overhauls, repairs, and adjusts engines, compressors, pumps, motors. Maintains and repairs ignition systems, carburetion equipment, fuel injection systems and emissions control systems. Detailed awareness of compressor components including lubrication systems, shutdown systems, loading and unloading valves, pistons, valves and electrical systems. Maintains compressor logs, engine hours, diaries, oil sampling and inventories of parts, equipment, lube oils and coolants. General upkeep of facilities and equipment including engines/compressors, company vehicle and shop. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Possess a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of mechanical equipment and machinery. Ability to develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules to ensure equipment reliability. Experience in maintaining and repairing reciprocating engines and associated components is required. Strong troubleshooting skills. In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to mechanical maintenance. High attention to detail to ensure accuracy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience in maintenance/repair of reciprocating engines & associated components is required. Must have a current driver's license and good driving record. The ability to take callouts and work overtime is required. Must live or relocate to within 1 hour of reporting location. Computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications preferred. Works well with others and can perform work independently. Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. 1+ years of mechanical experience is preferred.

This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
