Mechanic I/Carpenter - Manufacturing

Overview The Mechanic is responsible for maintaining & repairing machinery and mechanical equipment used in the plastics manufacturing process. This position ensures that all equipment operates safely and efficiently to minimize downtime and maintain production schedules. As assigned, duties may include repairs and upgrades to facility, offices, and grounds

Key Responsibilities:

Inspect, maintain, and repair production machinery, mechanical systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) on equipment according to established schedules. Carpenty, painting, door repairs, and general grounds maintenance. Install replacement parts, using machine shop instruments and tools when necessary. Maintain accurate maintenance logs and records of repairs, inspections, and parts usage. Assist in equipment installation, setup, and calibration of new production lines. Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards. Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to improve machine reliability and efficiency. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and support production during emergencies or breakdowns. Keep work areas clean and organized; maintain proper storage of tools and materials.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as an industrial or manufacturing mechanic. Plastics Mfg. experience a + Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Carpentry, painting, and handyman background Proficient in the use of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Adherence to LOTO and willingness to obtain 10 hour OSHA certification Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends or overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly. Frequently standing, bending, stooping, and climbing. Exposure to noise, heat, and industrial machinery.

Work Environment:

Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and industrial noise. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

Pay:

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
