About the Role As a Mechanic II, you will help keep our fleet safe, reliable, and ready to work. You will perform preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment used in the construction industry. This role works closely with the Lead Mechanic and service team to prevent breakdowns, reduce downtime, and improve overall fleet reliability. We are looking for someone who already has solid mechanical experience but is still hungry to learn, grow, and take the next step in their career. What You'll Do You will troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair various types of construction equipment and related machinery. You will assist with regular equipment inspections to ensure safety, reliability, and proper preventive maintenance. You will document repairs and preventive maintenance for recordkeeping, invoicing, and internal tracking. You will also communicate with coworkers and, when needed, customers to make sure equipment is maintained to Durante standards and customer expectations are met. You will be responsible for tracking maintenance work performed on vehicles and equipment, following all safety procedures, staying organized, and working independently with minimal supervision when needed. Additional duties may be assigned based on shop and field needs. What We're Looking For Qualified candidates should have 3 to 5 years of mechanic experience working on diesel equipment, heavy equipment, construction equipment, fleet equipment, or specialty equipment such as large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC equipment, or oil and gas equipment. Candidates should have knowledge of hydraulic systems, troubleshooting ability, strong attention to detail, and the discipline to perform accurate, high-quality work. Basic computer literacy is important, including the ability to document repairs and use work order systems. The right person must be flexible, able to adapt to changing priorities, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. You should be able to climb on and inspect large construction equipment regularly, communicate clearly, work well with others, and bring a self-motivated attitude every day. Candidates must have their own tools, a valid driver's license, and an acceptable driving record. Skills That Help You Succeed Experience with diesel engines, diagnostics, mechanic work, welding, computer systems, preventive maintenance, and construction equipment repair will help you succeed in this role.
