The Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Company vehicles, tools, and equipment to support daily field operations. This role will work on a variety of equipment including pickup trucks, small engines, hand tools, construction equipment, and other operational equipment used by field crews. The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and willing to work on a wide variety of equipment as operational needs change. Experience across multiple types of equipment is highly valued and may provide additional work opportunities and hours. Key Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Diagnose, repair, and maintain Company vehicles, tools, and equipment Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and operational issues Work on small engines including lawn mowers, pressure washers, portable generators, chainsaws, and similar equipment Perform repairs and maintenance on pickup trucks and light-duty vehicles Assist with maintenance and repair of construction equipment including mini excavators, backhoes, trailers, and related equipment Maintain organized work areas, tools, and equipment Track repairs, maintenance needs, and equipment issues Communicate equipment concerns and repair timelines to supervisors and field personnel Follow Company safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment Support field operations and additional shop responsibilities as assigned Qualifications Previous mechanic or equipment maintenance experience preferred Experience working on multiple types of equipment strongly preferred Experience with small engines, vehicles, and construction equipment is a plus Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues Ability to work independently and manage multiple repair priorities Basic computer or mobile device skills preferred for tracking work orders or communication Must be dependable, organized, and safety-focused Ability to lift tools, equipment, and parts as needed Valid driver's license Ability to communicate effectively in English in order to safely perform job duties, follow instructions, and communicate with supervisors and crews Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred, but not required Some travel required Vortex Companies, LLC and all of its subsidiaries, considers applicants for all positions without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, marital status, status with regard to public assistance, or sexual orientation.
