Job Description

Mechanical Design Engineer – (SolidWorks / Inventor, Custom Equipment & Sanitary Fabrication) Up to $80,000 • Waukesha County / Greater Milwaukee area • A fast-growing, family-owned custom equipment manufacturer where designers own full machine assemblies from concept through shop floor — not just isolated components. Experience 1–3 years of mechanical design using AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks required Comp Up to $80,000 — commensurate with experience Location Waukesha County / Greater Milwaukee area — onsite, no remote | Must reside within 45 minutes Type Full-time, direct hire | Comprehensive benefits — day one Auth U.S. citizen or Green Card holder required — no sponsorship, no relocation This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with a family-owned Wisconsin manufacturer of custom-engineered stainless steel systems serving the food, beverage, dairy, and pharmaceutical industries. The company is experiencing rapid growth and this opening exists specifically to keep pace with an expanding project pipeline. The facility is clean, modern, and genuinely free of the corporate bureaucracy that slows things down at larger organizations — everyone's contribution is visible here and the environment reflects it. This is not a drafting role. Designers here own complete machine assemblies from the initial 3D model through fabrication and delivery. You will walk the shop floor, see your designs being built, and work directly with the engineering manager to solve real problems in real time. For a designer who has been doing one slice of a larger product at a bigger company and wants to see the whole picture, this is a meaningful step forward. What you will be doing Engineering custom 3D and 2D mechanical assembly drawings for large-scale stainless steel equipment to precise customer specifications Developing comprehensive Bills of Materials and technical routing sheets for shop floor fabrication and assembly Creating precision flat layouts for waterjet cutting and material preparation Collaborating directly with production on the shop floor to monitor projects in progress and resolve technical issues in real time Owning the full machine assembly — ensuring accuracy from main structure down to the smallest detail through delivery What we are looking for 1–3 years of professional mechanical design experience using AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks Interest in full-system design ownership — candidates who want to move beyond drafting into true design will fit best here Associate's degree or technical certificate in Mechanical Design, Drafting, or a related field preferred Reliable, independent work style with the ability to take direction from a fast-moving engineering team Solid, stable work history U.S. citizen or Green Card holder residing within 45 minutes of the Waukesha County / Greater Milwaukee area Strong pluses (not required): Experience designing stainless steel tanks, vessels, or sanitary equipment Exposure to food, beverage, dairy, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments Familiarity with waterjet cutting layouts or flat pattern development
