Job Description

Milford Primary Care Associates, LLC is a patient centered, team-based, community-aligned private practice seeking Medical Assistants who provide our patients with a positive experience at every encounter, while working as a team with Physicians and staff to promote growth and extraordinary care to our patients.
Medical Assistants Job Responsibilities:
Welcomes patients and visitors in person or on the telephone, and ensures that the patient has a positive experience from start to finish. Performs selected clinical and administrative duties, and assists providers as part of the clinical care team. Conducts pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts prior to appointment with recent test results/correspondence and determines needed services per practice protocol. Participates in daily huddles with provider, reviewing the next day's schedule, and assisting in trouble shooting. Obtains patient history including chief complaint, social history, and history of present illness. Reconciles patient's medications and obtains other pertinent information. Takes vital signs, measurements/weight, vision screens, and hearing screens. Performs procedures ordered by physicians including but not limited to pulse oximetry, EKGs, and peak flows. Administers proper screening tests based on patient's reason for visit. Administers and properly logs vaccinations; lab procedures including but not limited to strep tests, urinalysis, flu tests, pregnancy tests, and Hgb. Maintains exam rooms with adequate supplies and cleans rooms following patient exams. Assists physicians in procedures, patient questions and concerns and maintains efficient patient flow. Patient Check-In and Patient Check-Out Schedules and Reschedules Appointments Retrieves messages from the prescription mailbox and sends the medication requests to the appropriate physician. Removes and properly stores hazardous waste from exam rooms and procedure rooms. Stocks treatment rooms and notifies appropriate staff of items that need ordering. Participates in training to better patient care; such as, learning evidenced-based approaches to self-management support, proactively addressing the needs of patients and families in this community, cultural competency, effective communication, OSHA, HIPAA, and the EMR. Communicates with community organizations, health plans, facilities and specialists to obtain test and referral results. Provides appropriate education to patient and family regarding medications, immunizations, treatments, diagnosis, and self-management. Contributes to the development of policies and procedures Participates in ACO's (Accountable Care Organizations) initiatives. Maintains a safe and positive work environment by following office policies/procedures and state/federal guidelines. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information. Handles all other duties as assigned by the Practice Manager or Clinical Team Lead.
