Job Title:
Medical Assistant Job Description This Medical Assistant role supports a high-volume community health center by delivering compassionate, efficient, and high-quality patient care. You will perform a mix of clinical and administrative duties, including taking vital signs, assisting with patient intake, preparing exam rooms and equipment, and supporting providers during procedures. This position plays a key role in ensuring patients feel respected, welcomed, and well cared for throughout their visit. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, escort them to examination rooms, and help ensure they feel comfortable and informed throughout their visit. Perform patient intake by collecting detailed medical histories and recording current symptoms accurately in the medical record. Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration rate, and other relevant clinical data. Prepare examination rooms for patient visits and procedures by stocking supplies, organizing equipment, and ensuring rooms are clean and ready. Clean and disinfect medical instruments according to established protocols and operate an autoclave to sterilize instruments safely. Set up rooms for procedures by laying out instruments, supplies, and equipment needed by providers, ensuring everything is ready and functioning properly. Assist providers and clinical staff during patient visits and procedures as needed, supporting safe and efficient patient care. Use the electronic medical record (EMR), including systems such as eClinicalWorks (ECW), to document patient information accurately and efficiently. Provide patient-centered support and customer service, responding to questions and concerns with professionalism and empathy. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and other staff members to support coordinated, high-quality care. Follow all clinical, safety, and infection-control protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. Contribute to maintaining a well-organized, fully stocked clinic by monitoring supplies and notifying appropriate staff when inventory needs replenishment. Essential Skills Completion of a Medical Assistant (MA) program. Minimum of 1 year of clinical medical assistant experience. Demonstrated experience taking and recording patient vital signs in a clinical setting. Hands-on experience in primary care or similar outpatient clinical environments. Ability to perform patient intake, including collecting medical history and documenting symptoms. Experience using electronic medical records (EMR), with familiarity in systems such as eClinicalWorks (ECW). Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven customer service ability with a patient-centered approach. Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced clinical environment. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Amityville, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
