Job Description

Medical Assistant Supervisor Job Description We are seeking an experienced and motivated Medical Assistant Supervisor to lead and support our clinical support staff in delivering exceptional patient care and maintaining efficient clinical operations. The Medical Assistant Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of Medical Assistants, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, supporting providers, and promoting a collaborative, patient-focused environment. The ideal candidate is a strong clinical leader with hands-on experience in outpatient healthcare operations, staff supervision, and direct patient care. Leadership & Staff Management
  • Supervise, mentor, and support Medical Assistants and clinical support staff.
  • Oversee daily staffing assignments, clinical workflow, and scheduling coverage.
  • Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate clinical coverage.
  • Conduct employee onboarding, training, coaching, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor staff productivity, professionalism, and adherence to clinic policies.
  • Work directly with providers to support efficient patient care and workflow optimization.
  • Address employee concerns and assist leadership with corrective action plans when necessary.
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on patient satisfaction and quality care. Clinical Responsibilities
  • Assist with direct patient care duties as needed in a fast-paced outpatient setting.
  • Room and prepare patients for provider examinations and procedures.
  • Obtain and document vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints.
  • Discharge patients and provide follow-up instructions as directed by providers.
  • Perform venipuncture and blood draws.
  • Conduct in-house laboratory testing and point-of-care testing in accordance with clinical protocols.
  • Administer injections, medications, immunizations, and EKGs within scope of practice.
  • Create and coordinate patient referrals, including specialty appointments and diagnostic testing.
  • Ensure exam rooms are cleaned, stocked, and prepared between patients.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Clinical Operations & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure smooth patient flow and efficient clinic operations.
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety regulations.
  • Ensure clinical staff adhere to established workflows, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives, audits, and compliance reviews.
  • Monitor inventory levels and oversee ordering of medical and clinical supplies.
  • Support implementation and optimization of EMR workflows and clinical processes. Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (CMA, RMA, NCMA, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Prior supervisory or leadership experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with phlebotomy, in-house laboratory testing, and outpatient clinical workflows required.
  • Strong working knowledge of eClinicalWorks EMR systems and medical terminology.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and lead effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred Skills
  • Experience in primary care, family medicine, internal medicine, or multi-specialty practices.
  • Must be proficient with eClinicalWorks.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with providers and administrative leadership.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a clinical environment with frequent patient interaction. Benefits
