Medical Billing Specialist

The Billing Specialist is responsible for working on unpaid claims, timely and accurately. The Billing Specialist provides ongoing follow-up on open balances to ensure payment is received promptly. The Billing Specialist also works on claims requiring correction and resubmission. This position also researches unpaid claims, using various methods (i.e. phone calls, web portals, etc.). T o perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The position requires constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy required in completing all assignments. Strong problem-solving skills, smart, driven, exceptional work ethic. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and follow- through on all assignments. Responsibilities Proper communication and documentation of issues found while completing claim follow up Identify billing issues and communication to appropriate staff member tp ensure clean future claims Maintain daily productivity levels, as outlined by management Conduct regular reviews of unpaid claims patterns and make recommendations to improve operational efficiency and reduce the occurrence of denials. Assist with daily front-end responsibility for multiple clients. Identify patient payments correctly and collection of payments from customers. Assist with a variety of projects and perform other duties as assigned Skills Experience as billing specialist preferred but not required Adherence to laws and best practices in regard to dealing with customers and data Knowledge of Basic computer skills Results-driven and patient High degree of attention to detail and trustworthiness Phone edict Summary As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be integral to the healthcare team, ensuring accurate billing and collections for medical services. Reporting to the Billing Manager, you will utilize your core skills in medical terminology, EHR systems, and medical coding to process claims efficiently. Your premium skills in DRG, CPT, and ICD coding will be essential in maximizing reimbursements and minimizing denials. With strong computer skills, you will manage medical records and facilitate seamless communication within the medical office, contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.
