Job Description
Medical Receptionist Wilkes-Barre Township, PA 18702 Part-time, Full-time Part-time, Full-time Privately owned surgery center seeking a dedicated and professional person to serve as a first point of contact for our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and the ability to provide outstanding patient service. This role is vital in ensuring smooth front desk operations, accurate appointment scheduling, and efficient management of patient records. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service at all times. Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, ensuring prompt and courteous communication. Schedule, reschedule, or cancel appointments for patients accurately. Provides patients with instructions regarding surgery preparation. Collect payments for services rendered. Maintain organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards. Assist with intake procedures by collecting patient information and updating records. Support medical office operations through clerical tasks such as filing, data entry, and document scanning. Collaborate with clinica/surgical staff to coordinate care plans and ensure seamless communication between departments. Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA guidelines while handling sensitive patient information. Utilize computer skills effectively. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the organization's commitment to quality care. Qualifications Experience as a medical receptionist or administrative support within healthcare settings such as clinics or hospitals. Knowledge insurance, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards a plus. Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear instructions over the phone and in person; bilingual abilities are a plus. Demonstrated clerical skills including filing, data entry, and document management. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Prior experience working in a healthcare environment with knowledge of medical terminology is highly desirable. Travel to satellite offices required
