Job Description
Overview We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional front desk support, manage patient interactions, and ensure smooth administrative operations within a busy medical office. This role requires strong organizational skills, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Clinic experience is highly valued to enhance patient communication and service quality. Duties Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring positive patient service experiences Schedule appointments, manage patient check-ins and check-outs, and coordinate follow-up visits using EMR systems such as Epic, IMED, or eClinicalWorks Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures accurately Collect payments Maintain accurate medical records, update patient information, and review documentation for completeness and compliance Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to address patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately Manage front desk operations including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining office supplies Assist with intake procedures for new patients and update care plans as necessary Support administrative functions such as appointment reminders, documentation review, and health information management Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding protected health information (PHI) at all times Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role; clinic or office experience is preferred Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or IMED Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), office management software, and multi-line phone systems Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and data entry tasks Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly in compliance with HIPAA standards Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette Prior experience working in a healthcare environment such as hospitals or clinics is a must.
