Job Description
Company Overview Cumberland Healthcare is an independent community based healthcare facility, inclusive of a Critical Access Hospital and Rural Health Clinic, serving northwest Wisconsin. With a comprehensive range of services including a clinic, a 25-bed critical access hospital, extensive rehabilitation and emergency services, Cumberland Healthcare has been dedicated to providing quality healthcare for over 50 years. Overview The Medical Records Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily, technical medical records operations, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and facility standards. They train and supervise staff, manage Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, perform audits, and coordinate accurate collection, scanning, and retrieval of patient records. Key Responsibilities Supervises and mentors medical records technicians, providing coaching and acting as a point of contact for staff questions. Demonstrates thorough understanding of HIPAA and medical record confidentiality rules. Audits records for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state and accreditation standards (e.g. HIPAA, etc.) Manages and the accurate scanning, filing and retrieval of both electronic and paper-based records, including HEDIS data collection. Demonstrates proficiency with EMR Systems and Microsoft Office (especially Excel). Develops and implements policies for efficiency in record retrieval and processing. Assists with daily department al duties such as ROI (Release of information), answering phones, scanning, required reporting (such as death, pathology, neoplasm, cancer, national data bank, etc.). Qualifications 2-4+ years of experience in medical records or health information, preferably in a hospital setting Ability to relate and work effectively with others. Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communications for safe and effective patient care and to meet documentation standards. Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own professional advancement. Previous supervisory experience preferred Excellent computer skills in a variety of software Office equipment knowledge and skills, including computer, printer, copy machine, fax and telephone. High School graduate or equivalent
