The incumbent is also responsible for scheduling appointments, recall scheduling and verifying provider orders for scheduling purposes.The MSA schedules Outpient Clinic appointments using Veteran Health Informion Systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) scheduling options. The MSA complies with established business rules to schedule and/or cree provider and pient requested s, consultions and recall scheduling, makes reminder calls and sends appointment letters to veterans. The incumbent complies with all mandory training requirements. The incumbent's duties include but are not limited to: scheduling, cancelling, re-scheduling and/or recalling pients' appointments, consults and/or compension & pension (C&P) examinions; appointment reconciliion including pulling clinic lists; appointment cancellion; retrieving and re-filing pient charts: assembling pient records; printing medicion profiles; providing administrive support to Outpient Clinics (OPCs) as needed; re-scheduling pient's appointments and/or consults; maintaining and entering no-show informion; monitoring the electronic wait list and clinical availability; preparing for clinic s; monitoring both inpient and outpient appointments for areas of responsibility; ensuring encounter forms arc completed in order to obtain approprie workload credit; performing da validion audits and quality care da retrieval oversight in order to obtain approprie workload credit. He/she is responsible for verifying and upding demographics and insurance informion; processing all emergency and non-emergency transfers to other VA facilities or prive hospitals; performing eligibility, co-pay and preauthorizion requirements for specific coverage; acquiring knowledge of travel and all reled duties for providing trement; authorizing and calculing reimbursement of travel expenses for qualified outpients: collecting da necessary to prepare monthly AMIS reports; Communices scheduling and consult issues with clinical staff as needed. The MSA determines prima facie eligibility of veterans for care as part of the admissions process by screening documents provided by the veteran regarding his/her discharge from military service. If no evidence of discharge stus is readily available, the incumbent inities a search for the pient's eligibility by creing a HINQ inquiry and/or contacting the approprie Regional Office. The MSA also elicits informion from the veteran necessary to complete Insurance capture, as well as procure all required consent forms from the veteran. The MSA may times advise the veteran on his/her eligibility for care and provide a meaningful explanion to an ineligible veteran based on Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regulions and applicable law and refers the veteran to an approprie source for further informion when approprie. This is the full performance level for MSAs. At this level, the MSA independently performs a full range of duties reled to the delivery of healthcare services in an inpient or outpient setting. Advises clinical staff on current administrive processes. The MSA is responsible for answering phones, greeting pients, relaying messages to approprie staff inside or outside of the unit, scheduling appointments, including interpreting and verifying provider orders in accordance with VHA nional scheduling guidelines. Assignments this level include, but are not limited to: scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling pient appointments and/or consults; entering no-show informion; monitoring appointment requests from multiple electronic sources; participing in huddles with other MSAs and/or clinic staff to determine the daily needs of the clinic, monitoring both inpient and outpient appointments in areas of responsibility; verifying and upding demographics and insurance informion when pients check-in for appointments.
