Receives specimens collected outside the laborory and ensures approprieness for test requested. Receives, orders, accessions, and prioritizes laborory test requests. Draws blood by venipuncture and takes capillary blood samples for a variety of test procedures on a routine or urgent basis. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position has a requirement to lift up to 20 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Hepitis B immunizion is required for all positions with direct pient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizions depending on the type of position. This position requires Basic Life Support training certificion from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Associion and American Red Cross. Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certificion does not supersede BLS completion. One year trial/probionary period may be required. Specialized Experience:

One year of specialized experience which includes performing venipuncture using specialized drawing techniques, ensuring specimens meet collection and labeling standards, and coordining specimen processing and reporting. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Educion:

Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or least 24 semester hours in subjects directly reled to the position, such as, Medical Laborory Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biology or a reled field. (

A combinion of educion and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is least 100%.
