Job Description

Greenville County Department of Public Safety is seeking a full-time Medication Assistant (CNA, Pharmacy Technician, EMT or Medication Technician) to join our healthcare team. In this position, you will play a key role in the healthcare for inmate patients at the Greenville County Detention Center. We are looking for a skilled medical professional with maturity, flexibility, critical thinking skills and confidence to join our team. Our staff provides comprehensive medical care in a correctional setting; you'll be trained to do this while observing and maintaining the requirements of operational security. Our facility includes a large, central nursing station; three exam rooms; a medical housing area and isolation rooms; as well as a non-dispensing pharmacy on site, lab, x-ray, and a dental suite. As a part of a well-established agency, you can expect to be presented daily with a wide range of different challenges. During a normal shift, you will be delivering medications within the facility. Some of your responsibilities will include but not limited to passing medications at designated times, processing medication reorders and returns, preparing medication for medication pass, noting questions and directing them to the appropriate care providers. Documentation occurs on an electronic health record and medication safety is of paramount importance. On the job training for medication delivery will be provided. HS Diploma or equivalent required. Applicants must possess and maintain a current CNA, Pharmacy Technician, EMT or Medication Technician certification. These certifications are preferred but non-certified candidates are eligible. Other certifications/licenses may be considered with previous experience passing medication. BLS certification and experience passing medication preferred.
