Job Description:
Summary The Member Engagement Specialist leads GGP's member engagement strategy and strengthens the organization's presence in the community by developing strategic relationships, supporting member success, and guiding engagement initiatives that contribute to economic growth. This position is responsible for the development, retention, and expansion of GGP membership through strategic planning, member acquisition, onboarding, engagement, and retention efforts. The Specialist leads and evaluates member and community engagement opportunities, including workforce development programs such as custom training, online certifications, in?person classes, and virtual learning options. In addition, this serves as a primary representative of Geauga Growth Partnership-conducting strategic outreach, maintaining high?level communication with business leaders, and representing GGP in a professional manner to enhance visibility, strengthen partnerships, and support organizational impact across the region.to enhance visibility and reputation throughout the region.
Essential Functions Member Acquisition:
  • Proactively develop and lead a strong pipeline of prospective GGP members-especially within the manufacturing sector-through targeted outreach and relationship development with ownership of the member pipeline and responsibility for tracking progress towards established membership goals.
  • Develop and manage relationships with potential members, guiding them through the engagement process and supporting the membership commitment process with timely, accurate follow-through.
  • Onboard all new members , ensuring a smooth and welcoming introduction to GGP programs, services, and benefits.
  • Coordinate and lead and participate in annual visits with GGP members to assess needs, strengthen relationships, and identify opportunities for deeper engagement.
  • Follow up with members who do not renew , address concerns, reinforcing value, and encouraging re-engagement when appropriate.
  • Lead and participate a GGP Membership Ambassador Corps to support member outreach, engagement, and service delivery.
Workforce Development:
  • Evaluate and support the strategic promotion of workforce development offerings -including custom training, online certifications, in?person classes, and virtual learning opportunities-available to both members and non?members.
  • Collaborate with internal staff to align member engagement strategies with workforce development initiatives and ensure members understand available resources.
Member Engagement Events:
  • Collaborate with Kent State University Geauga to plan, promote, and support the Geauga Economic Leadership (GEL) events, ensuring strong member participation and meaningful engagement.
  • Partner with MAGNET to support the development of, promote, and assist with execution of MAGNET?related events that connect members with manufacturing resources, insights, and opportunities.
  • Oversee the development and promotion of Small Business Forums , working closely with a steering committee to engage members, support small business needs, and deliver high?value programming.
  • Facilitate additional events and engagement opportunities that provide networking, professional development, and business?building experiences for GGP members.
  • Ensure event logistics, communication, and follow-ups are completed in a timely and professional manner.
Organizational Support:
  • Assist with business operational tasks , including membership data management, calendar maintenance, general office functions and purchasing activities as directed.
Relationship Support:
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationship-building efforts within community partners and member organizations.
Communicating and processing member and partner organization requests for information and action.
Other:
  • Attend and participate in Board Meetings as requested.
  • Handling other duties as assigned.
  • Completing a self-evaluation as part of the annual review process. Competencies Relationship Management Sales Interpersonal and Communication Proficiency Organizational & Project Management Skills

  • Ability to work independently to successfully and meet goals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills Education and Experience 3-5 years' experience in business development, membership engagement, community relations, or a related field.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience Demonstrated experience leading outreach or engagement strategies and building strategic relationships with businesses or community organizations. Comfortable communicating with diverse audiences in professional settings. Other Duties All GGP jobs require interaction with the Board of Trustees, GGP members and community and business leaders. This requires a high level of professionalism and integrity in all aspects of the job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may be added or deleted based on business need.
