Job Description
- 60K-70K depending on experience Responsibilities as
Memory Care Program Director:
Coordinates the development of the unit objectives, policies, and procedures. Establish a staffing pattern to accomplish stated objectives in the standard of the special care unit. Participates in the hiring, scheduling, and supervising of the primary care aides. Prepare and provide executive director with records and reports regarding the unit's budget and progress toward stated goals. Complete related assessments and tools for admission, and discharge. Provide in-service and all continuing education for employees, family members and volunteers regarding the resident's disease process, behaviors, techniques, and approaches. Pursues educational development in Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Interview and assesses all the residents and the families prior to admission. Coordinates the pre-admission, screening, and discharge process. Coordinates, with team members, the development of the 24-hour plan for the residents and quarterly updates in the progress notes. Assures delivery of service for each resident according to his or her 24-hour plan. Develops a resource file to assist in meeting the resident's families' needs. Becomes a community-recognized expert and resource related to dementia care and Alzheimer's disease. Acts as a liaison facilitating communication between the unit, facility, councils, family members and community. Provides for a therapeutic environment in the residents' personal and congregate areas, compensating for cognitive, sensory, and physical impairments. Provides individual or group services for the resident and/or families at the time of adjustment or crisis. Provides, as needed, resident and family services such as counseling, problem-solving, referral and advocacy. Qualifications forMemory Care Program Director:
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, gerontology, nursing, or therapeutic recreation, or at least 5 years of direct resident experience; Master's Degree, strongly preferred. At least three to five (3-5) years of healthcare experience At least Two (2) years of geriatric care experience Expertise in Alzheimer's and related dementias to meet the State license requirement Must possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as in this state. Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
