Job Description

An External Advocate is an independent advocate who provides assistance and support to adult individuals receiving services at a state-operated mental health facility. The advocate helps individuals and their families with questions, concerns and complaints regarding the hospital care and treatment and ensures the fundamental rights of the individuals receiving services. We are looking to hire one full-time position to work 2 days at Danville State Hospital and 3 days at Danville Youth Facility. Ideal candidate will have advocacy experience, knowledge about the PA mental health system, reporting, strong organizational and data entry skills.
Other Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to work independently and utilize sound judgement
  • Must have valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications preferred
