Job Description

Mental Health Agent Trainee #26-068Nc State of South Carolina SC Posted Date 5/14/2026 Description (If you are currently C-1 Certified, please apply for Job #187558) •Charleston & Dorchester Under the general supervision of the Mental Health Program Manager; the specialized mental health agent will serve as the first line of supervision for a caseload consisting primarily of individuals who are living with a mental illness. Maintain a professional communication network with internal and external stakeholders, advocate on behalf of those supervised to seek/maintain stability. Maintain effective knowledge of all areas of mental health supervision, programs, policies and protocols. Participate in trainings and maintain all requirements for Mental Health Certification. A bachelor's degree with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses; An associate's degree and two (2) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted; or a high school diploma and four (4) years of military or certified law enforcement experience (to include Class 1 or Offender Supervision Specialist experience) may be substituted. In addition to meeting the minimum requirements, applicants will be required to obtain C-1 law enforcement certification by the SC Criminal Justice Academy within 1 year of employment (12 weeks which includes an 8 week sequestration at the academy).
