GENERAL FUNCTION
Manti Elementary School is seeking a student-centered, collaborative, and enthusiastic 2nd Grade Teacher who is passionate about helping children grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The ideal candidate believes in building strong relationships with students and families, creating a positive classroom culture, and providing high-quality literacy and core instruction that helps all students succeed. The classroom teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students develop foundational academic skills, confidence, character, and a love for learning. Teachers work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and support staff to ensure all students receive meaningful instruction aligned with Utah Core Standards and district expectations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The classroom teacher is responsible to: Follow Utah Effective Teaching Standards. Fully participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and collaborative team processes. Teach all core subject areas outlined in the Utah Core Curriculum and adopted by the South Sanpete Board of Education. Create a classroom culture where students feel safe, valued, respected, and motivated to learn. Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues. Develop engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that provide differentiated instruction and meet the needs of all learners. Implement research-based instructional strategies, with a strong emphasis on early literacy and math, reading intervention, student engagement, and academic growth. Utilize and support evidence-based literacy practices, including implementation of programs and practices aligned with the Science of Reading, including LTRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). Analyze student data to inform instruction and interventions. Establish and maintain clear standards of student behavior and positive classroom management practices. Evaluate student academic growth through formative and summative assessments and maintain appropriate records and progress reports. Communicate regularly with parents through conferences, phone calls, emails, newsletters, classroom communication platforms, and other appropriate means. Identify student needs and collaborate with school staff to support students academically, behaviorally, socially, and emotionally. Maintain professional competence through professional development, instructional coaching, literacy training, and self-selected growth opportunities. Represent South Sanpete School District and Manti Elementary School in a professional, ethical, and positive manner. Attend and participate in faculty meetings, professional development, committees, and school activities as required. Administer district and state assessments in accordance with established procedures. Understand and adhere to all District Policies and procedures and demonstrate professional ethics as outlined by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Must hold or be willing to obtain a valid Utah Educator License with Elementary Education concentration. Preference may be given to candidates with training or experience in early literacy instruction, including LTRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) and/or passed the Utah Foundations of Reading assessment. Requires strong oral and written communication skills with students, parents, and staff. Requires effective classroom management skills and the ability to establish a positive, student-focused learning environment. Requires strong organizational, problem-solving, multitasking, and time-management skills. Requires knowledge of Utah Core Standards and best instructional practices for elementary learners. Requires the ability to collaborate effectively with grade-level teams, support staff, and administration. Requires strong technology skills and the ability to effectively integrate educational technology into instruction. Requires the ability to analyze student data and use it to guide instruction and interventions. Requires the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community members. Requires a commitment to fostering a positive school culture centered on student success, collaboration, kindness, and high expectations for all learners.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively through speaking and listening. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and move throughout the school environment as needed to support instruction and student supervision. The employee may occasionally be required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach. The employee must be able to supervise students in a variety of settings, including classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and other school locations. The employee may occasionally lift, carry, or move materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close and distance vision and the ability to supervise students for safety. The employee must be able to respond appropriately to student needs and school situations in a professional manner.
