Job Requirements:
Holds a valid Washington State teaching certificate with an ESL/ELL endorsement.
Qualifications:
Experience working with middle school-aged students. Experience assisting in the planning and implementation of annual
WIDA ACCESS
testing. Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize and direct paraeducators within the classroom to support the diverse needs of students. Demonstrated commitment to positively contributing to school culture and active participation in school-wide PBIS systems, including Royal Middle School's Strongholds/Kingdoms framework. Demonstrated ability to use effective assessment and instructional strategies to meet student needs in all curriculum areas and demonstrated ability to use the 4 essential teaching behaviors of assessment, evaluation, planning, and instruction to deliver quality programs for all students. Experience with teaching English Language Learners Demonstrated ability to work with and motivate students and to implement effective teaching methods. Ability to analyze instructional practices through regular and ongoing observations and dialogues associated with mentoring and coaching. Genuine interest in teaching students. Demonstrated ability to work with parents and clearly communicate intended outcomes for the classes and to problem-solve as needed if a student is struggling. Demonstrated ability to positively contribute to decision-making in collaboration with administrators, other staff members, and the parent community. Belief in and application of establishing positive relationships and utilizing progressive discipline when needed. General understanding of Positive Behavior & Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Understanding by Design (UBD). Commitment to collaboration in a Professional Learning Community environment. Understanding of the Washington State Learning Standards and the English Language Arts' Smarter Balanced Assessment Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Bilingual preferred; Spanish language proficiency a plus. Other duties as assigned.

Salary:
$56,858-$118,240 Based on Education and Experience, 2026-2027 REA Salary Schedule 180 days/year.
