Education:
Master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology Fully licensed or limited license in social work, counseling, or psychology (while school certification is preferred, fully licensed or limited license social work or counselor without school certification will be considered)
Job Description:
The School Mental Health Clinician will serve as a vital member of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Supports (MTSS) team, providing consultation, targeted mental health interventions, and prevention strategies across all tiers of the MTSS framework. This role involves delivering individual and small group mental health interventions, collaborating with staff to implement school-wide social-emotional and mental health prevention education and strategies, and contributing to the development of tiered support plans to meet the diverse needs of students.
Essential Job Functions:
Collaborates with teachers, staff, and administration to provide consultation and support on School Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (SWPBIS), social-emotional learning, and mental health prevention and intervention strategies Works cooperatively as a liaison with community agencies and resources (e.g., community mental health, medical providers, law enforcement, family court, and other community organizations) to facilitate care coordination for students and families Ensures compliance with all 31n/C4S documentation and reporting requirements, meeting funding guidelines and established timeframes. This includes student assessments, crisis interventions, treatment plans, session notes, progress monitoring, and fidelity checks Utilizes evidence-based school mental health programs, interventions, and strategies Conducts psycho-social risk assessments to identify emotional, behavioral, or mental health concerns, including suicide risk assessments Acts as a key member of the school's Behavioral Threat Assessment Team Collaborates with the team to support the development and implementation of Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSP) for students on the clinician's caseload in general education Performs duties in compliance with MDE & Kent ISD 31n/C4S Funding, district policies, Board of Education regulations, and professional ethics.
