Job Description

Country Day World School is a premier Infant-8th grade school located in Largo, Florida. Our 15-acre campus serves as a dynamic environment for an inquiry-based pedagogy that seamlessly transitions from a Montessori foundation to a progressive, preparatory Middle School model. Guided by the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework, our curriculum integrates advanced preparatory study, international travel, animal science, and competitive STEM initiatives to cultivate globally-minded scholars. The Opportunity Country Day World School invites applications from forward-thinking educators for the position of Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. This role is designed for a practitioner-scholar capable of delivering 7th Grade Life Science and 8th Grade Physical Science at a high honors level. This appointment represents a unique opportunity to function as a curriculum architect within an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) school. The successful candidate will transition away from traditional didactic instruction toward a model of guided inquiry.
Key Responsibilities Inquiry-Based Facilitation:
Move beyond traditional lecture models to guide students through the MYP inquiry cycle, fostering curiosity, action, and reflection.
Criterion-Related Assessment :
Implement IB-aligned assessment strategies that measure student proficiency against complex, real-world criteria.
Global Contextualization :
Situate scientific discovery within global contexts, bridge-building between classroom theory and international issues.
Mentorship:
Maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio to provide individualized academic coaching and support for advanced scientific research. Candidate Requirements The successful candidate will demonstrate a deep commitment to evidence-based instructional practices and the holistic development of the middle-school learner.
Academic Background:
A Bachelor's degree with strong content knowledge in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, or a related scientific field is required. A Master's degree is strongly preferred.
Professional Credentials:
Eligibility for Florida Teacher Certification is highly prioritized.
Pedagogical Expertise:
Direct experience within an IB MYP or equivalent inquiry-based program is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to design curriculum that balances rigorous academic standards with student-led discovery.
Technical Fluency:
