Description
Position Summary:
South Park Middle School is seeking a passionate and versatile Social Studies Teacher to join our small, rural, mountain middle school. This position provides a unique opportunity to teach both core content areas while contributing to a positive and connected school culture. The ideal candidate will create engaging, standards-aligned lessons in social studies, and foster strong connections with students, families, and colleagues in our tight-knit school community.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, grade-level appropriate lessons aligned with the Colorado Academic Standards for Social Studies.
  • Integrate real-world applications and cross-curricular connections to promote critical thinking and problem-solving.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of a diverse student population, including students on IEPs, Advanced Learning Plans, Second Language Learners, etc.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, positive, inclusive classroom climate that encourages curiosity, respect, collaboration, and academic risk-taking.
  • Implement consistent classroom routines and behavior expectations; maintain discipline in alignment with school-wide systems.
  • Build strong relationships with students to support both academic growth and emotional well-being.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students and communicate regularly with families about student learning and growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student learning and school-wide goals.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, team planning, school committees, and school events.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties and support school-wide behavior expectations and routines.
