QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Meet certification requirements of the Department of Education, State of Iowa K-8 or 5-12 Spanish Endorsement Knowledge/Skills Able to communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills Able to work independently and/or as a team to complete tasks and meet goals Able to prioritize, organize and accomplish assigned work Such alternative to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Plan, evaluate and revise curricula, course content, course materials and methods of instruction in line with the Iowa Core and district Curriculum Contribute to the selection of materials and supplies while implementing designated curriculum Employ a variety of instructional methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting stated objectives Provide effective, developmentally appropriate and differentiated language instruction for diverse learners Provide high quality foreign language instruction that integrates culturally authentic learning Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required Promote student engagement in order to inspire and encourage progress while supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student Supervise students' work, evaluate and grade student performance, assignments and progress in language acquisition Follow professional practices consistent with school policies in working with students, students' records, parents and colleges Maintain a professional demeanor in dealings with parents and students Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner Strive to maintain and improve professional competence; stay abreast of developments in the Foreign Language field Attend staff meetings, professional development and serves on committees as required or requested Maintain accurate, complete and appropriate records and files Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when requested to do so under reasonable terms Provide adequate information, plans and materials for substitute teachers Have regular and reliable attendance Act as an advisor to student organizations
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ MENTAL DEMANDS/ ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Maintain emotional control under stress Capable of standing for long periods of time while instructing Able to work with interruptions during a work shift Tobacco and substance free environment Must provide certification of good health prior to employment
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Wage and work year to be established by board policy Employment per Board Policies and Administrative Rules and Regulations Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with board policy
