Job Description

  • Use MIG or TIG welder to join metal parts and structures together.
  • Adjust welding machines and equipment to optimal settings for welding being done.
  • Prepare and fixture materials for welding as required.
Our Story Established in 1974, Southern Metalcraft is a custom sheet metal fabricating firm located in Social Circle, Georgia. Job Title:
MIG or TIG Welder What we are looking for: We are looking for an experienced MIG or TIG welder to work in our new Social Circle facility. This person will be helping supply our customers with welded custom assemblies. They will work with the fabrication team, engineering and QC to produce top quality products for our customers. Since this position is key to our success, we are looking for someone that is motivated, positive and excited about making an impact and helping us all succeed.
Primary Duties:
Ability to Remove rust, scale, or impurities from metal to ensure a strong weld.determine the best means of securing material prior to welding it Use hand tools and grinders as needed
  • Follow blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accuracy.
  • Inspect completed welds and assembly for accuracy and quality. o Identify and repair any welds that do not meet quality standards, ensuring all work meets company and industry standards.
  • Record work completed and communicate any issues encountered during the welding process to help improve product and process.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries. Use protective gear and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment and tools.
  • Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position
Basic Qualifications:
  • Min. 2 years of welding experience or completion of technical training course.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings
  • Proficient at reading tape measure to 1/32"
  • Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in various positions
  • Positive and motivated attitude
  • Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in both
MIG & TIG
welding
  • Current
AWS D1.1
certifications
  • Experience with Laser welder
  • Proven ability to communicate with engineers and sales
