The position will assist in development of purchase orders, purchasing supplies, authorizations for travel, staff travel accommodations and payroll functions. The incumbent will greet customers and clients that arrive at the facility or by answering the phone and provide excellent customer service. _The Department of Public Safety is unable to provide sponsorship for work visas. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States at the start of employment. DPS does not participate in E-Verify._
- Minimum Qualifications
- + Knowledge and skill using Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheet, presentation) programs to produce correspondence, spread sheets, and reports in an efficient and timely manner.
+ Skill in word processing sufficient to prepare, edit, and finalize emails, memos, reports, and/or other documents and types of written communication that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors.
+ Knowledge of communications sufficient to present clear and concise explanations of governing rules and regulations in a manner that is understandable.
+ Database Management skills sufficient to perform data entry, create queries and perform database maintenance.
+ Skill in customer service sufficient to respond effectively to clients, coworkers, and customers who have questions about agency operations and procedures (in person, in writing, on the phone, and through presentations and other electronic correspondence).
+ Skill in typing/keyboarding, using Microsoft Word or equivalent software, sufficient to produce documents such as emails and other correspondence in an efficient and timely manner.

- + Problem solving skills and the ability to prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines. + Database management with strong organizational and time management skills. + Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.
- Physical Requirements
- Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file boxes and heavy hand tools or heavier materials with help from others and moving and transporting light objects frequently.
Even though the weights being moved and transported may be a negligible amount, a job in this category may require positioning self to move to a significant degree or may involve maintaining a stationary position for extended periods.
