A AMMUNITION INSPECTOR

(T32), WG-6501-9, Conducts pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue. Checks each item for restrictions or suspensions. Inspects vehicles, equipment, and storage areas reling to the safety and security of Ammunition and Explosives (A&E). Advises using units on the proper procedures for completion of documention for issue and turn-in of ammunition and residue. Performs receipt inspections on all ammunition and components turned in by using units. Assists in the inspection and classificion of ammunition throughout the ste. Provides input regarding causes of ammunition un-serviceability and takes approprie action when ammunition deteriorion is found to be other than "fair wear and tear". Inspects small arms ammunition to ensure segregion of ball and blank ammunition. Supports inspections on all A&E residue returned to the ammunition residue yard. Certifies ammunition residue as explosive free. Inities documention for disposition of residue. Enforces safety regulions and is familiar with informion regarding safety considerions. Possesses knowledge of the safe methods of performing different types of ammunition and explosive operions, (demilitarizion, renovions, shipping, receiving, testing, inspection and storage). Participes in amnesty management including identifying, inspecting, segreging, determine serviceability, documenting, packaging for storage, and coordining disposition. Operes forklifts, stake bed trucks, pallet jacks, and various hand tools. (25%) Inspects ammunition, performs maintenance, care, preservion, shipping and storage operions, assuring compliance with Standard Opering Procedures (SOPs), safety regulions, drawings, etc. during operions. Conducts visual, mechanical, functional, stic or dimensional tests as required. Uses and maintains test equipment including calibrion equipment. Sets up and operes specialized Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE). Valides merial to assure compibility of explosive items. Spot checks ammunition accountability, and stock accounting procedures. Participes in required quarterly inventories. Conducts causive research by identifying merial with lost identificions or found on post through verificion inspection. Researches through da bases to identify lots and des of arrival. Conducts compliance inspections on units an Ammunition Holding Area (AHA), individual unit field AHAs and unit locions if required. Monitors ammunition and explosive reled operions firing sites and demilitarizion areas for adherence to regulions a procedures concerning explosives, compibility, quantity distance, explosive and personnel limits, transportion and utilizion of protective equipment. Inspects ammunition and components using approprie Ammunition Surveillance Procedures. Performs Assists inspections of ammunition storage structures to assure safe storage, compibility, explosive limits, identify structural deteriorion and inventory and security practices. Assists Explosives Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team with demilitarizion mission. Attests to compliance with environmental policies and guidance. Inspects and/or tests of lightning protection systems. Participes in the physical security program in accordance with current Army Regulion (AR). Conducts and/or coordines testing of the Intrusion Detection System (IDS). (25%) Responsible for the requirements of all ammunition management documention. Researches, analyzes, and completes the proper and required documention of ammunition transfer records, surveillance records, ammunition condition reports, quality deficiency reports, magazine da cards and numerous other documention and/or reports. Inities and maintains inspection reports, publicions, and files. Verifies all services' suspension and restriction notices. Records inspection results to the Depot Surveillance Record (DSR) in the Munitions History Program (MHP). Assists in ghering informion for the preliminary malfunction report noting all facts pertinent to this malfunction. Confers with Quality Assurance Specialist Ammunition Surveillance (QASAS), Ammunition Officer, or other experts to arrive probable cause for the malfunction and makes recommendion on suspense action. Exhibits an in-depth knowledge of ammunition administrive procedures as outlined in Department of the Army (DA) regulions, pamphlets, and other applicable regulions. Researches and analyzes, maintain, technical manuals, drawings, and specificions to ensure assigned procedures are applicable to specific items. Participes in the development, revision and/or upde of SOPs, as required. Performs other duties as assigned. The above does not list all duties. The full list of duties can be provided upon request. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

This position is being filled under Merit Promotion procedures and is open to current employees only. Minnesota Nional Guard Membership is required. Selectee required to wear the military uniform. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. May be required to successfully complete a probionary period. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Must be able to obtain and maintain the approprie security clearance of the position. Most MNNG position are covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Incumbent must be cleared IAW requirements of

(Physical Security of Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives) and must pass a local and nional law enforcement files check. Incumbent must meet the requirements of DA PAM 385-64, other applicable regulions, as well as validion by the ammunition and explosives safety certificion board. Must complete a Training and Certificion Program for personnel working in ammunition operions. Must be certified in Hazardous Waste Site Personnel (29 CFR1910.120) Incumbent must possess and maintain a current ste driver's license

MILITARY COMPATIBILITY

Upon selection, individuals will undergo a background check to valide suitability for employment with the federal government as permitted by law, regulion, Presidential order or other authority. Suitability is dependent upon the particular requirements for security clearance, sensitivity level, and DOD IT network access. Minimum Requirements:

WG - Experience or training which demonstres the ability to use and maintain tools and equipment associed with the type of work to be done, and to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Experience which demonstres the knowledge of and the ability to apply safety standards.

Specialized Experience:

WG-09 - Experience or training which demonstres knowledge of various codes of federal regulions (i.e., Department of Transportion and Occupional Safety and Health Associion). Ability to respond to unforeseen or emergency situions and be able to make immedie responses to emergency situions, determine the correct course of action to mitige the problem. Knowledge of ammunition/explosives technical references, procedures and policies, merials handling equipment, and lifting gear, rail, and truck characteristics/capabilities. Ability to interpret and apply load drawings technical inspections procedures, publicions, specificions, and technical drawings pertaining to ammunition/explosives. Ability to research, interpret and apply all technical informion necessary to inspect each specific ammunition and explosive item, component, and specialized packing merial. Ability to read and comprehend technical orders, technical manuals, schemics, blueprints, and drawings, as well as communice orally and in writing to brief and provide training. Knowledge of the safety precautions and procedures necessary to be taken with the variety of ammunition and explosives worked on. Knowledge of detonion and burning methods and procedures for the destruction of ammunition and explosives. Knowledge of product specificions, standards, and associed requirements for preservion, packing, shipping, and storage to ensure product quality, safety, and protection of the environment. Ability to recognize the various munitions and explosives to apply the proper procedure for inspecting. Ability to recognize weher and other conditions th affect explosive operions and to select the alterne procedures necessary under such conditions. Knowledge of opering procedures and safety regulions and procedures applicable to firing range activities. Skill in the operion of the full variety of machines and tools in operions. Skill in the maintenance and minor repair of machines, tools, and equipment used in ammunition maintenance.
