Overview:
The Aerial Acquisition Technician is responsible for capturing imagery and GPS data during mission flights in a manner that ensures the highest product quality. This includes assembling, transporting, operating, and maintaining all data and image capture equipment and systems and assisting the pilot as needed.
Responsibilities:
Sensor Operation Operates all sensor equipment and systems: Mastery of the operational aspects of various sensors (e.g., cameras, LiDAR, thermal, multispectral). Initiating and controlling the sensor systems during the flight as per mission requirements. Monitors the sensor's operation and adjusts as needed in flight: Continuously watching sensor outputs for quality and functionality. Making real-time adjustments to optimize data capture, such as exposure, angle, or range. Records data accurately while on each flight line: Ensuring the precision of the data capture process. Logging operational parameters and any issues encountered during the flight. Data Management Uploads data to the FTP site after each mission is flown: Securely transferring the collected data to designated servers for processing. Organizing and labeling the data correctly to ensure easy access and identification. Quality Control Reviews project specifications to determine the job scope: Understanding the objectives of each flight mission. Ensuring that the planned operations align with the project requirements. Assists the pilot in decisions to re-fly lines if there are problems with the data: Analyzing data quality in coordination with the pilot in real-time. Advising on the necessity of additional passes to meet quality standards. Maintenance & Training Assists with sensor installations and maintenance if/as needed: Providing technical support in setting up the sensors for operation. Performing routine checks and maintenance to keep the equipment in working order.
Assists with training as assigned:
Sharing knowledge and operational expertise with new technicians or team members. Demonstrating procedures and best practices for sensor operations and data handling.

Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma or GED. One or more (1+) years of aviation-related, military drone operation, GIS, or other relevant experience/training. Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record and Passport (or ability to obtain a passport within three months of hire). Proficient verbal and written English communication skills. Experience using computer and managing files, including data uploads. Cell phone with texting capabilities. Personal Credit Card with $3,000 available credit to procure commercial flights, hotel, meals, and rental cars. Weekly reimbursement is made upon submission of expense report. Ability to pass DOT pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug tests.
Preferred:
Flight school training or College coursework in Aviation or a related field. Two or more (2+) years of aviation, GIS, military drone operation, or other related experience/training.
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Ability to sit in a confined space in the plane for up to six (6) hours at a time. Ability to work a 15/13 schedule (15 days on, 13 days off). Visual acuity to see close-up, distance, color, periphery, night, and depth. Ability to input data using a computer keyboard and manipulate small equipment parts. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds of equipment and supplies. Ability to adapt to changing temperatures, noise, light, and altitude. Ability to pass DOT pre-employment, random and post-accident drug test. Ability to reach, climb, bend and stretch. Working Conditions Within single-engine, twin-engine, or turboprop aircraft, an Aircraft hangar & office. Exposure to odors, sound, altitude changes and weather daily. Substantial out of town travel and availability on short notice. #LI-FS1
