Accident Insurance Provided Competitive salary Flexible schedule Job Summary We are hiring a Mobile Diesel Mechanic to service heavy-duty tractors on-site throughout the Memphis and Birmingham metro areas. You will work primarily on Freightliner and Volvo tractors with diesel engines, traveling to FedEx domicile yards, truck stops, and roadside locations to keep our fleet on the road. This is a full-time position paying competitive market rates for the Memphis area. What You'll Do Perform mobile repairs and routine maintenance on Freightliner and Volvo diesel tractors at customer and roadside locations. Inspect, service, and repair air and hydraulic brake systems, including pads, shoes, drums, rotors, slack adjusters, chambers, and air lines. Repair and replace DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) tanks, sending units, lines, and related aftertreatment components. Replace headlights, marker lights, and other exterior lighting; troubleshoot lighting circuits as needed. Replace and repair electrical pigtails, connectors, and trailer plug wiring; trace shorts and opens in 12/24V systems. Repair and replace mud flaps, mud flap hangers, and related hardware. Arrange and coordinate windshield repair and replacement with approved vendors; complete the necessary intake paperwork and follow-up. Pull and diagnose diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) using OEM and aftermarket scan tools; perform follow-up repairs or escalate as appropriate. Document each service call accurately, including parts used, hours worked, mileage, and customer/unit information. Maintain the service truck, tools, and parts inventory in clean, organized, and safe working condition. Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety procedures while working on-site and at the roadside. Required 3+ years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic, preferably on Freightliner and/or Volvo Class 8 tractors. Working knowledge of air brake systems, electrical/lighting systems, and DEF/aftertreatment components. Ability to read and interpret diagnostic trouble codes and use OEM diagnostic software (e.g., DDDL, PTT, JPRO, or similar). Own basic hand tools (specialty tools and diagnostic equipment provided by the company). Valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle record. CDL is a plus. Able to lift up to 75 lbs, work outdoors in varying weather, and respond to service calls in the Birmingham area. Authorized to work in the United States. Preferred ASE Medium/Heavy Truck certifications (T-series), especially T4 (Brakes) and T6 (Electrical/Electronic). Prior mobile or roadside service experience. Experience with welding and basic fabrication for brackets, mud flap hangers, etc.
