A Day in the Field It's early in Detroit when the call comes in: a bucket truck is grounded at a jobsite. You roll out in your fully equipped service truck — crane, welder, and compressor on board — and head to the customer. On site, you methodically diagnose hydraulic issues, confirm electrical integrity, and validate diesel performance. By afternoon, you're completing a DOT inspection and dielectric test on another customer's aerial device before heading back, tools stowed and tickets closed. Tomorrow might take you to Grand Rapids or Monroe — and you're ready. The Work You'll Do Diagnose, repair, and maintain aerial, construction, and light
- to heavy-duty truck equipment — including bucket trucks, digger derricks, cranes, and service trucks — directly at customer locations.
Service diesel engines, hydraulic circuits, and electrical systems; perform inspections, troubleshooting, and parts replacement on CTOS rental and customer units. Complete compliance tasks such as DOT inspections and dielectric testing. Where You'll Operate Home-base flexibility: work from Ann Arbor, Monroe, Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing, or Kalamazoo. Primary support across Michigan with travel into Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, and other areas as needed. Remote road mechanic duties with most work occurring within 150 miles of Las Vegas. Overnight travel approximately 25% across MI, IN, OH, and IL. What You'll Bring 7+ years of hands-on experience in both shop and field environments. Background with utility, construction ("yellow iron"), or heavy equipment (CAT, Deere, Komatsu) and medium/heavy-duty trucks. Strong capabilities in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical diagnostics and repair. Self-sufficiency in the field, excellent organization, and the ability to collaborate or work independently. Valid driver's license required; CDL Class B is a plus and personal tools are required. Licensing CDL required to operate a CTOS Class B service truck (26,000 lb. GVWR).
