Mold Maker

Responsibilities Build FRP molds and tooling from drawings, patterns, or existing parts (plug → mold workflow) Construct plugs using foam, MDF, tooling board, and FRP methods Apply gelcoat and surface coats; achieve consistent finish and release quality Lay up molds using chop/mat/1708/woven roving; vacuum bagging a plus Install flanges, stiffening ribs/frames, vacuum ports, and mold hardware Perform mold finishing: trimming, fairing, sanding, polishing, and minor repairs Maintain molds: surface repair, gelcoat repair, spot refinishing, re-polish, re-release Work with production team to troubleshoot sticking, print-through, distortion, and surface defects Follow shop safety and resin handling procedures; keep work area clean and organized Required Experience / Skills 2+ years composite tooling or mold building experience (FRP) Strong knowledge of mold release systems, gelcoat, surface prep, and finishing Ability to read tape measure accurately and work to layout lines Comfortable using hand/power tools (grinders, sanders, saws, drills) Able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a resin shop environment Preferred (Nice to Have) Vacuum bagging / infusion tooling experience Experience building large molds (tanks, industrial components) Basic CAD/drawing interpretation Experience with structural reinforcement design for molds (frames, ribs)

Pay:

$22.00 - $24.00 per hour
