Job Description

SUMMARY Perform advanced preventative maintenance or repairs on molds and tooling to bring back to specification. Make necessary arrangements to have work performed by outside shop and track as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE
( other duties may be assigned ) Maintain various types of molds by performing the proper mold break down, cleaning and preventive maintenance. Inspect and perform precision measurements of molds and tooling components and compare to print specification to determine ware. Prepare and operate variety of machine tools, such as but not limited to, radial drill press, lathes, milling machines, band/table saw and sand blasters, to machine metal work pieces usually on custom basis. Fabricate advanced metallic and nonmetallic parts and fit & assemble machined parts into complete units. Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts. Measure, mark, and write dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Participate in development and training of mold mechanic I employees. Adhere to and communicate to others the Health, Safety and Quality policies, including use of PPE Maintains a clean and safe work environment and keeps work area clean of debris. Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing other duties as assigned. Adhere to and communicate to others all plant Health, Safety and Quality guidelines and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED. Initiated machinist apprenticeship or journeyman program with measurement technique certification; OR comparable experience. 3+ years' work experience in setting up and operation of Lathes, manual mill, drill press, grinders sand blaster and other machining equipment. 3+ years' experience using calipers, micrometers, depth gauges and other precision measuring equipment. Advanced knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties.
Preferred:
Vocational or trade school in related trade.
SKILLS-ABILITIES
Self-motivated, conscientious, with a results-oriented mindset. Good time management, organizational and communication skills to work independently and also in a team environment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read in metric units and the imperial (US math) system. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak clearly before groups of customers or fellow employees. Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications. Ability to use measuring tools, depth gauges, height gauges, micrometers and calipers. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively before groups of customers or fellow employees. Ability to develop and train Mechanic I and other production associates as needed. Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands. Strong technical aptitude, as well as analytical and problem-solving skills. Sound judgment - ability to work efficiently with many competing demands. Regularly use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and occasionally lift or move up to fifty pounds. Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs and move 100+ pounds with proper gear or equipment. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may require the use of hearing protection occasionally.
