Montessori Preschool Assistant Teacher-Temporary Position for end of school year

Summary:
We are looking for an Assistant Teacher for our Montessori preschool and Kindergarten. You will help the children develop independence and social-emotional skills while guiding them on their educational path. Montessori schools use a scientific method based on child development to help students become directors of their own learning with guidance from their teacher. A good assistant teacher will have some knowledge of early childhood care and education - this can be accomplished through a 30-hour online training course as required by the state. They must also be patient, kind, and enjoy working with young children. Experience working with children, particularly this age group, is preferred. Being familiar with the Montessori method is not a requirement, but you must be open to learning on the job. A state background check and TB test will be required before starting work in our childcare facility as per state law.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Assist lead teachers in preparing materials and giving lessons Supervise children during outside time Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem Encourage children to interact with each other kindly and resolve occasional arguments Organize nap and snack hours and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times Communicate with parents regularly to understand the children's background and psyche Collaborate with other educators Regular cleaning to ensure the classroom is consistent with health and safety standards
Requirements:
•Must be available for weekdays from 8:30am-3:30pm. Please do not apply if you are not willing to work these days. As requiered by WAC Must have currently: Highschool Diploma Be registered in MERIT clear background check with DCYF CPR/First Aid Food Handlers Permit Negative TB test 30 hours child basic training HIV and Blood Born Pathogens Training Immunization for MMR. Must have an ECE initial certificate or equivalent or get one within 5 years of hire date. Pay:
$19.00 - $22.00 per hour
