Montezuma Highway Department Laborer (Part-Time) Overview The Highway Department is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to support various roadway construction, snow plowing, mowing and maintenance projects throughout the Town of Montezuma, New York. This part-time, per diem opportunity has flexible hours based on employee availability and current workload. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, reliability and experience with heavy machinery and road construction processes. Duties Assist with operation and maintenance of heavy equipment including, but not limited to dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and dump trucks Support paving and road construction activities on various projects Mowing lawns and fields Help with utility locating and other groundwork tasks as needed Follow instructions for equipment operation under supervision to ensure safety and efficiency Contribute to the overall progress of roadway improvement projects by performing assigned tasks diligently This position reports directly to the Highway Superintendent Requirements Clean, valid drivers license is required. Must complete a Cayuga County Civic Service application. Must be able to pass a drug screening. Prior experience or familiarity with heavy equipment such as commercial mowers, dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, or dump trucks preferred, but willing to train qualified candidate Construction or construction site experience is advantageous Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks Valid, clean driver's license is preferred to assist with equipment transport and site visits

Pay:

From $18.00 per hour
