Hours Worked:
 8:00AM to 5:00PM; Working days and hours may vary Perks of Working for the Ohio Department of Public Safety Multiple pay increases over the first years of service! Free Parking! What You'll Do As A Motor Vehicle Inspector Inspect motor vehicles including motor homes, campers, school buses, church buses, self-assembled vehicles, & salvage vehicles to determine whether they are unsafe or improperly equipped, or that equipment is in proper adjustment or repair as required by law by entering & exiting vehicles & bends, stoops & utilizes mechanics' "creeper" in order to crawl under vehicle to visually check vehicle mechanical components. Enter & retrieve information using numerous Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) databases. Complete inspection forms & affix inspection decals to those vehicles which pass. Operate state owned motor vehicle inspection vehicle to transport equipment used in motor vehicle inspection. Inform the owner &/or operator of repairs or adjustments which are necessary to place the vehicle in safe condition.
