Job Description

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a Motor Vehicle Mechanic to work in Fort Hood, TX. To join our team of outstanding professionals, apply today! Responsibilities The Motor Vehicle Mechanic repairs, rebuilds, or overhauls major assemblies of internal combustion automobiles, buses, trucks or tractors. Work involves most of the following: Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required; replacing worn or broken parts such as piston rings, bearings, or other engine parts; grinding and adjusting valves; rebuilding carburetors; overhauling transmissions; and repairing fuel injection, lighting, and ignition systems. In general, the work of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Qualifications Must have a minimum of 2 years of motor vehicle maintenance experience. Must be knowledgeable in U.S. Army maintenance procedures and
AR 750-1.
Must have the ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening. Must have the ability to receive a favorable TIER 1 investigation. Must be able to bring and use own tool.
Desired Qualification:
3-5 years of maintenance experience preferred. US Army
MOS 91/63
series qualification is desired. Experience on US Army tactical vehicles is desired. Valid Driver's license preferred. ASE Certified preferred.
HVAC EPA
Tech Cert 608/609 a plus. Emergency Vehicle Technician Certified ASE Certification desired. High School Diploma/Equivalent preferred. Commercial Driver's license with Passenger Endorsement preferred.
Physical Demands:
Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching. Work environment includes periodic overtime, exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather conditions.
