There are two campuses, the Dalton Campus has one elementary (grades Prek-4), and the Nunda Campus has one middle school (grades 5-8) and one high school (grades 9-12).Position Summary:
The Principal serves as the chief instructional leader and administrative head of the building, responsible for fostering a culture of academic excellence, continuous improvement, and collaborative professional practice. This role includes direct oversight of curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation through structured Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). The principal ensures that teaching and learning are aligned with standards, data-driven, and responsive to student needs. Key Responsibilities Instructional Leadership & Curriculum Development Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum across all subject areas. Oversee curriculum mapping, pacing guides, and assessment frameworks to ensure coherence and vertical alignment. Use student performance data to drive curriculum decisions and instructional practices. Ensure equitable access to high-quality instructional materials and learning experiences for all students. Oversee and stay current on New York Inspires Initiatives. Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) Establish, support, and sustain effective PLC structures across departments and grade levels. Facilitate regular PLC meetings focused on data analysis, common assessments, instructional strategies, and intervention planning. Build staff capacity in collaborative inquiry, reflective practice, and shared accountability for student outcomes. Monitor PLC effectiveness and provide coaching and feedback to teacher leaders and teams. Staff Leadership & Development Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate instructional and support staff. Design and implement ongoing professional development aligned with school goals and PLC work. Cultivate teacher leadership opportunities, including PLC facilitators and instructional coaches. Foster a positive, inclusive, and growth-oriented professional culture. Student Achievement & School Improvement Develop and implement a comprehensive school improvement plan grounded in data and best practices. Monitor student progress and ensure timely interventions for struggling learners. Promote a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment that supports academic and social-emotional growth. Operations & Management Oversee daily school operations, including scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation. Ensure compliance with district, state, and federal policies and regulations. Maintain accurate records and reporting related to curriculum, instruction, and student performance. Family & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with families, community partners, and stakeholders. Communicate effectively about school goals, student progress, and curriculum initiatives. Engage stakeholders in supporting student success and school improvement efforts. Job Qualifications Qualifications Valid state certification as a school building leader.
