Molder Tuesday - Friday 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM
JOB SUMMARY
The basic functions of the Molder are to produce vacuum pads on schedule and as directed. A molder is any person trained to work alone in the molding room to mold pads for Wood's Powr-Grip (WPG) products.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
This position reports directly to the Molding Supervisor. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The position of Molder requires the following minimum qualifications:
EDUCATION
High School Graduate/GED
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
Driver's license.
EXPERIENCE
None required
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively to the extent required by the position. Ability to effectively and cooperatively work with other people both in and outside the company.
BODY SENSES
ALL - Ability to use of all body senses.
MENTAL:
The ability to read and write.
MATHEMATICS
Add, Subtract, Multiply, Divide to the extent required by the position.

MECHANICAL SKILLS
Must be familiar and comfortable with molding press. Must be able to respond to product specification requirements. Must be able to operate various other machines when needed. Ability to constantly monitor and evaluate tasks performed for safety, efficiency, and quality.
SPATIAL RELATIONS SKILLS
Required - normal spatial orientation.
ESSENTIAL AUTHORITIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND DUTIES
This position has the following authorities, responsibilities, and duties:
AUTHORITIES
The position of Molder includes all authority necessary to produce products and parts as assigned by the Molding Supervisor. This includes authority to direct or perform all activities which are within the Molder's defined span of control, and which are necessary for the organization to attain its production schedules. All such activities are to be carried out within the bound of established policies and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Molder is responsible for: Requisitioning materials and supplies from the Central Store to meet production requirements. Maintaining expected levels of quality control, personal morale, and safety. Performing the job duties assigned in the safest, most efficient and error free method possible. Meeting the required production output. Shutting down an operation if the product it is producing is out of spec, the machine is not functioning properly, or if they feel there is a safety risk until such time as the supervisor has a chance to review the process. Asking for and accepting production procedure instructions only from certified trainers for that operation, their supervisor or Q.A. Personnel.
DUTIES:
The following is a general description of the principal duties required to accomplish the responsibilities of the
Molder:
Maintaining a safe working environment and operating all machinery/tools assigned within the safety guidelines established by the company and standard safe work practices. Using and maintaining all safety equipment requested and/or required. Maintaining and cleaning all tools, equipment, and work area on a regular basis. Maintaining a high level of quality control. Keeping production on schedule. Fulfill any Tracking System requirements for the operation being performed. Initiating paperwork, in accordance with the appropriate quality procedure, for any corrective action that is required. Keeping accurate accounts of time and production using available software or other methods assigned by the company. Maintaining a high level of employee morale. Stay at work stations between breaks. Fulfill all procedures necessary for molding of rubber pads within production and quality guidelines. Other duties and tasks are as follows: Sharpen knives; Replace knives; Cut rubber for molds; Slit and Felt pads; Clean counter tops, floors, and presses daily; Take out garbage; Maintain supplies necessary for daily production; Answer questions about molds and practices; Check all pads that go to inspection; Maintain expected levels of quality; Clean molds; Keep records on molds history, cleaning, repair, etc.

The following performance criteria apply to this position: Fulfill the responsibilities and duties set forth above. Abide by all company policies and procedures. Maintain and promote morale. Exercise effective planning and time utilization, using all available work time in a manner which will benefit the organization and contribute to the smooth operation of the business. Such judgment/decision making shall also include the ability to determine when problems require being brought to the attention of others. Demonstrate initiative by performing duties which need to be performed, although not directly assigned, which fall within the overall scope of this position's authority. Maintain a professional attitude and a cooperative working relationship with all employees of the organization - assisting others when feasible unless such assistance shall negatively impact your job. Any difficult situation which may arise is to be handled in a tactful manner. Utilize the formal chain of command to properly address those situations which may need follow-up or actions beyond the immediate time. Maintain systems, processes, methods and procedures that effectively promote the products of the organization, contribute to the smooth operation of the business, and effectively safeguard the organization. Maintain a physical appearance which is reasonable, suitable and generally acceptable for your job and within the overall working environment. Meet production schedule as set by your Supervisor. Make certain that molded products meet acceptable quality standards. Keep accurate records of production. Maintain a percentage performance standard to be identified by your supervisor. Maintain systems, processes, methods and procedures that effectively safeguard the organization. Submit floor requisitions to the Central Store or your Supervisor on a basis which is sufficiently timely to allow for acquisition and delivery of goods to meet production requirements. Success in performing or failure to achieve any of these specific performance criteria shall be documented by your Supervisor and such documentation shall be the basis upon which measurements of performance are determined.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
In general, the working conditions are as follows: Clean environment. Exposure to noise, heat, dust, and occasional hazardous chemicals.
Normal working hours are:
On the job: 7 hours 20 minutes Lunch break: 40 minutes Two 20 minute breaks OR On the job: 9 hours 20 minutes Lunch break: 40 minutes Two 20 minute breaks Shifts may vary for molders depending on demand for product. Must be willing to work any shift required.
Overtime:
as requested and approved by management. Breaks are not guaranteed. They are provided at management's discretion and may be rescinded at any time without notice. Breaks represent "opportunities" to break from your work. These opportunities are "not" available for use if any one of the following two conditions exist: You are engaged in a work activity that should not be interrupted, where such interruption adversely affects the quality of the product or part being manufactured and/or the efficiency of your job as described in this position guide. You are about to engage in a work activity that, if delayed, adversely affects the quality of the product or part being manufactured and/or the efficiency of your job as described in this job description.
The position requires the following:
Must be able to walk, sit, stand, bend, reach, and carry throughout the shifts described above. Must be able to consistently lift 80 lbs. from a floor or table position to chest high using a proper lifting technique and repetitively use arms, hands, and fingers in the manipulation of parts. Must demonstrate good hand/eye coordination and demonstrate good manual dexterity. Must be able to stand for the length of the shifts described above. Maintain a physical appearance which is reasonable, suitable, and generally acceptable for your job and within the overall working environment. Molders are expected to exercise sound judgment. When in doubt, they should consult with their Supervisor. Molders are expected to maintain a professional attitude and a cooperative working relationship with all employees of the organization, especially with others in the department and Supervisor. If a concern rises, they should relate this concern to their Supervisor.
