March 2026Job Summary:
The Slopes and Safety Assistant is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of area closures related to a fuel reduction project taking place this summer, helping the Slopes Department with their summer work, and assisting the Trail Crew with the maintenance of trails. This position may work with a variety of departments and on projects as needed. The department headquarters are located in the metal shop facility. The majority of the duties will be conducted outdoors on the slopes of Big Mountain.Job Relationships:

None Job Specifications:
Must possess a valid driver's license and be authorized for WSI insurance coverage. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Basic knowledge of hand and power tools. Completion of "Lockout/Tagout" training class.Specific Duties:
Responsible for educating and diverting the public from the fuel reduction project. Responsible for maintaining trail and area closures using signage, rope lines, and a physical presence. Responsible for utilizing proper channels to communicate problems or unsafe objects on the hill. Assist with the annual setup and takedown of summer activities including, but not limited to, the Alpine Slide and Spider Monkey. Perform summer trail maintenance and brushing work, including chainsaw operation.Work Environment:
Occasional heavy physical labor including lifting, pulling, pushing, bending, and climbing. Able to lift up to 60 pounds repetitively. Able to work while standing and walking for extended periods of time up to 10 hours daily. Able to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature. Able to see, walk, bend, lift, and climb into and around machinery. Able to withstand occasional vibrations, jarring, anxiety from poor visibility, and constant engine noise while operating equipment. Able to engage in repetitive body motion involving upper body torque while shoveling dirt. Job may require working weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak demand times. Non-smoking environment.Safety & Wellness:
All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow-up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity.
