Clinton Community Schools is seeking a highly collaborative and knowledgeable teacher leader to serve as the MTSS Coordinator for Secondary Literacy & Academic Systems. This position will support the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) in alignment with Michigan Department of Education (MDE) requirements under Public Act 146 (PA 146). The MTSS Coordinator will serve both the middle school and high school in a shared capacity, supporting the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success of all students. This role is designed to strengthen Tier I, Tier II, and Tier III systems through coordination, data use, intervention support, and collaboration with staff, students, and families. The position will focus on strengthening Tier I instruction across content areas, advancing adolescent literacy, coordinating intervention systems, and supporting data-based decision-making. The MTSS Coordinator will play a key role in improving attendance, supporting at-risk student populations, maintaining student data systems, and contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture aligned with district initiatives such as PRIDE. This is a teacher leadership position that supports instructional systems and does not include formal supervisory or evaluative responsibilities.Qualifications:
Required:
Valid Michigan teaching certificate (secondary endorsement preferred) Master's degree in education, curriculum & instruction, literacy, or related field Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience Demonstrated knowledge ofMTSS/RTI
frameworks and data-driven instruction Experience in literacy instruction or willingness to complete district-supported literacy training Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skillsPreferred:
Experience in instructional coaching or teacher leadership role Knowledge of PA 146 requirements and Michigan literacy law Experience with adolescent literacy or reading intervention strategies Familiarity with behavior data systems (e.g., SWIS) Experience working with at-risk student populations Experience facilitating professional development for staffKey Responsibilities:
Support implementation and continuous improvement of MTSS (TierI, II, III
) across grades 6-12 in alignment with PA 146 Support and promote content-area literacy and effective Tier I instructional practices across all subject areas Assist in coordinating and monitoring academic and behavioral interventions for students, including at-risk populations Support use of student data (academic, attendance, and behavior) to inform decision-making and interventions Monitor and support attendance systems, including identification of chronic absenteeism and truancy interventions Assist in maintaining and utilizing behavior data systems and supporting positive school climate initiatives (e.g., PRIDE) Support implementation and monitoring of literacy-related requirements, including alignment with IRIPs as applicable Provide and/or support professional learning related to MTSS, literacy, and intervention practices Collaborate with administrators, teachers, counselors, families, and community partners to support student success Assist in evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and supporting continuous improvement effortsReports To:
