Summary:
Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for the fabrication and assembly of various metal parts per Company drawings/specifications using ASME approved and qualified welding procedure specifications. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for welding, production, and product movement.
Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
may include any or all of the following. Observe and follow all Company safety rules and regulations. (First priority) Serve as point person and communicate with outside inspection agencies. Read and interpret Company drawings and specifications in order to assemble steel parts based on ASME approved welding specifications. Operate and maintain welding equipment efficiently. Weld components in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers. Examine workpieces for defects and measure workpieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications. Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc (Stick), flux cored metal arc, submerged arc, gas tungsten metal arc (TIG), and gas metal arc welding equipment (MIG). Assist lower-level technicians with assigned tasks.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacturing and distribution of goods. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. Proven knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Ability to follow instructions, respond to management direction; take responsibility for own actions and keep commitments; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Demonstrated ability to balance team and individual responsibilities; exhibits objectivity and openness to others' views.
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid Driver's License. Forklift Certification or the ability to obtain one. Ability to pass weld test meeting ASME requirements.

Working Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Occasional overnight travel may be requested. Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment. Participation in rotating after hours on-call schedule required.
