East Valley Certificated Salary Schedule, $59,310 - $119,456 depending on placement per degree, credits, and experience.

Employee Benefit Information Job Summary:
The Elementary Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Specialist assists and supports staff and administration in improving student outcomes in the areas of academics, behavior, attendance, and social-emotional learning. The MTSS Specialist collaborates with school teams to develop, implement, monitor, and adjust interventions and support systems for students requiring additional assistance or accommodations within the school setting. The MTSS Specialist serves as a collaborative problem solver, coach, and support resource for certificated and classified staff while helping create equitable, inclusive, and supportive learning environments that promote student success.
Essential Job Functions:
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties: Support the cognitive processing of others through the planning, observation, and reflection process. Provide ongoing professional development training to certificated and classified staff, adjusting the workday when needed, and as approved by the supervisor. Support building staff in developing early interventions strategies for struggling students (academically, socially, behaviorally). Conduct observations and make behavioral recommendations for at-risk students. Help buildings and conduct informal assessments, FBA's, and develop success plans for students and track progress and recommend changes as needed. Assist in the design and implementation of individually tailored interventions for meeting the social/emotional needs of students. Provide expertise in social skills training. Support Building MTSS Teams, MDT, and the 504 process. Actively engage in problem solving and crisis intervention as an individual and team member. Use knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, district policies and procedures in working with staff, principal, and supervisor to ensure compliance. Provide technical assistance, guidance, and participation regarding the district's discipline policy and procedure. Support building staff in the determination of the least restrictive placement options for students. Working cooperatively with the school, support staff, and programs for the benefit of students. Ability to plan, facilitate, and support small group instruction focused on students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs while fostering engagement, positive peer interactions, and skill development. Support and lead transitions of students entering and exiting programs including grade level transitions. Participate and facilitate the development of school-parent partnerships and participate in problem-solving meetings. Assist families by referring/linking them with community resources. Create and support a safe learning environment using strategies to resolve barriers that could impact the capacity of students to learn. Collect data needed to determine effectiveness of interventions. Attend district meetings specific to job function. Have working knowledge of 504, IEPs and special education laws. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain a consistent presence at the assigned work site(s) and work the regular work hours specified by the contract. Knowledge of applicable laws and district policies and their application to providing services to students and to supporting staff. Ability to plan, prioritize, and follow through. Ability to appropriately assess and to respond to individual and group situations providing conflict resolution support and assistance as appropriate. Ability to work independently and to work as an effective member of a team. Professionally interact with a diverse range of colleagues, members of the public, and students. Comply with and uphold all district policies and all applicable laws. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Desired Skills:
Demonstrate understanding and ability to implement a trauma informed learning environment where the needs of the whole child are accounted for in classroom design. Understand and apply current educational developments and instructional methodologies. Flexible in learning new concepts and adapting to a variety of assignments and conditions. Communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written forms. Display enthusiasm, optimism, and motivation towards teaching and student learning. Participate in school, district, and community events. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds or 33% of body weight, whichever is less. Skilled in crisis prevention, de-escalation strategies, conflict resolution, and problem-solving techniques. Ability to build positive relationships and effectively communicate with students, families, staff, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and utilize data to inform interventions and support student success. Knowledge of district discipline policies, behavioral supports, and least restrictive environment practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Teaching certificate, no later than the first contracted day of the 2026/2027 school year with appropriate endorsements as required by law and regulations. A degree with either a Special Education endorsement (preferred focus in Behavior Intervention) or Masters in School Counseling or School Psychology, with an Educational Staff Associate (ESA) certification. Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance. Proof of Immunization (if born 1/1/57 or later). I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act. Completion of all district-required training within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee may be required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and may be exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.
Evaluation:
This position shall be evaluated per the terms of the East Valley Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement. The process shall include an evaluation of the employee's performance of the above essential job functions and required skills.
