Position Summary:
The Multilingual (ML) Family Engagement & Student Services Support personnel supports student success by bridging communication between schools and multilingual families while providing essential coordination and administrative support to the Office of Student Services. This role promotes equitable access to educational opportunities by ensuring families are informed, engaged, and connected to resources. The position works closely with the State & Federal Programs Coordinator, ML Social Worker, and ML Team to support elementary and Early Childhood Center students and families, provides enrollment and navigation assistance, and offers targeted support to multilingual families.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Family Engagement, Communication & Liaison Services Serve as a primary liaison between the district, schools, and multilingual (ML) families, fostering trust and strong partnerships. Provide interpretation and translation services (verbal and written) for parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, early childhood screenings, and district communications. Promote culturally responsive communication and practices across school staff and family interactions. Facilitate family workshops, outreach activities, and engagement events to support meaningful family involvement. Elementary and Early Childhood Center ML Family Support (Social Work-Aligned) Collaborate closely with the ML Social Worker to support elementary ML students and families. Assist in identifying and addressing barriers to attendance, engagement, and academic success. Support students and families with social-emotional, behavioral, and basic needs through outreach and follow-up. Participate in student support teams, problem-solving meetings, and family conferences as appropriate. Conduct proactive outreach to families needing additional support and connect them with appropriate services. Provide targeted outreach and support to multilingual families at the Early Childhood Center. Assist with early childhood screenings, enrollment, and transition to kindergarten. Support early childhood families in understanding developmental milestones, school readiness expectations, and early intervention resources. Resource Coordination & Case Support Connect ML families to school-based and community resources such as food assistance, housing, healthcare, and counseling services. Maintain and update a directory of culturally and linguistically responsive community resources. Support basic case management functions in coordination with the ML Social Worker, including referrals and follow-ups. Assist families in accessing district programs such as McKinney-Vento services and other student supports. Student Services Coordination & Administrative Support Provide administrative and operational support to the Office of Student Services. Maintain accurate, confidential student records (e.g., 504 plans, discipline files, transportation, and reports). Serve as a point of contact for students, families, and staff regarding student services. Schedule meetings, hearings, and appointments with counselors and administrators. Coordinate events such as family resource nights, immunization clinics, and department initiatives. Draft correspondence, reports, and manage communications across departments. Enter and maintain data in student information systems and assist with district/state reporting. Office Operations & Collaboration Support daily office operations including supplies, equipment, and inventory. Collaborate with department Student Support Specialist, teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to ensure equitable access to services. Maintain confidentiality in compliance with FERPA, HIPPA and district policies. Participate in professional development and continuous improvement efforts. Enrollment & Family Navigation Assist multilingual families with enrollment processes, including registration, documentation, and orientation to district systems. Guide families through transportation, health requirements, and program placement, including early childhood programs. Provide ongoing support to ensure families understand school policies, procedures, and expectations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Fluency in English and at least one additional language (Spanish preferred or other high-need languages). Strong cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to explain complex educational and social service information in an accessible manner. Knowledge of school systems, enrollment processes, and community resources. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and student information systems. Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and family empowerment.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or related field preferred. Master's degree preferred. Experience in education, social services, family engagement, or administrative support preferred. Experience working with multilingual and multicultural communities is strongly desired. Work Environment:
School and office setting with frequent interaction with students, families, and staff. Regular travel between district buildings, including the Central Office and the Early Childhood Center. Occasional evening or weekend hours for family events and meetings. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift materials (up to approximately 25 lbs).
