Location Statesboro Campus - Statesboro, GA Department Information Museum Job Summary Responsible for the administration and oversight of all facets of museum operations, including staff supervision, management of budgets and grants, the development of educational programming and exhibits, fundraising and revenue generation, collections management, and public relations. The Director is responsible for policy and procedures that ensure the museum operates under best practices and maintains its AAM accreditation. The Director manages the museum as an interdisciplinary unit central to the university's academic mission; as an undergraduate resource for experiential learning; and as a dynamic graduate training site for museum studies. Responsibilities Hires, supervises, evaluates and trains museum staff including undergraduate and graduate students, grant funded and temporary staff Oversees planning and implementation of exhibits and educational programming on and off-site Develops and secures outside funding sources through grants, donations, and formal fund development in collaboration with the Georgia Southern University Foundation and Office of University Advancement Oversees and administers museum fiscal matters including annual budgets and budget requests, Foundation funds, and earned income according to university policies and procedures Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and best practices in the field. Establish sound working relationships and leadership roles in museum professional organizations ensuring best practices and accreditation standards are maintained and integrated into student learning Oversee marketing, advertising, social media, and internal/external messaging, acting as the primary spokesperson to enhance the museum's visitation, reputation and collaboration Oversee museum facilities and collections to ensure for their proper care and preservation With status as faculty in the Department of History, the Director manages the museum's graduate teaching responsibilities and the museum's collaboration in the MA programs in Public History and Museum Studies and the development of a Ph.D. program in Museum and Public Humanities Required Qualifications Educational Requirements Ph.D. degree in History or American Studies Required Experience A minimum of five year's museum or cultural resource executive management experience Demonstrated success in the development and administrative management of programs and personnel Successful budgetary management skills and development of private/external support Proposed Salary $78,706 - $102,285 This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
